Wilma Jean Halstead

Wilma Jean Rinehart Halstead, age 78, of Redfield, died Saturday, December 13, 2014. Born November 13, 1936 at Redfield, she was a daughter of the late Ruben Lee Rinehart and Bessie Walters Rinehart. She received her early education in Redfield and was a graduate of White Hall High School in 1954. A 30-year employee of the Civil Service Commission, she retired as Postmaster at Redfield. Mrs. Halstead was an active member of Redfield Missionary Baptist Church for 64 years. She was very active in virtually every area of life in her community. She and her husband were in charge of the Redfield Cemetery for 16 years. She was a member of the David O. Dodd Chapter 212 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Redfield Historical Society. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Denton Lee Rinehart; and two sisters, Ida Mae Sharp and Mary Betty Gillenwater. Survivors include her husband, David Edward Halstead, whom she married on February 24, 1956; three daughters, Linda Kindy (Dale) of Little Rock, Susan Cooney (Larry) of Stafford, Va., and Carol Hampton (Troy) of Cabot; a brother, Delbert Lynn Rinehart of Redfield; a sister, Linda Rinehart Banks of Redfield; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; along with a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 17, 2014, 10 a.m. at Redfield Missionary Baptist Church with Brothers Micah Deaton and Joel Meredith officiating. Interment will follow in Redfield Cemetery by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services of Pine Bluff. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Redfield Missionary Baptist Church.
