JOHN FRANK SHEFFLER, born May 25, 1923 to John and Gertrude Sheffler, died Dec. 20, 2014 in Little Rock, Ark. He was born and raised in Plum Boro, Pa. He served in the Army Air Force for three years during WWII. He returned and attended business school in Plum Boro, Pa. He was a sales representative and owner of a Hallmark Store in Greensburg, Pa. On a cruise to Alaska, he met Dannie Ellis and they fell in love. They got married and began a long and fun filled life together. They took trips all over the world and one of the highlights was a trip to Slovenia, the birthplace of John's parents. John also fell in love with the South and the Sheffler's moved to Little Rock. He became an adopted southerner and a member of Dannie's Arkansas family. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude Sheffler; his wife of 42 years, Dannie Sheffler; his sisters, Albena Kasmoch, Mary Maniero, Juel Sheffler and Florence Stahr; brothers, Charles Sheffler and George Sheffler. His is survived by his nephew, Dave Kasmoch and step-son, Eugene Porter (Ann); step-grandsons, Danny Porter, Brad Porter, Jim Porter, David Porter and John Porter; step-great grandchildren, Logan Porter, Connor Porter, Chloe Porter and Ethan Stricklin. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Mt. Carmel Community for the loving care and support the last years of his life. Also, thank you to the other residents of Mt. Carmel for their companionship and their laughter shared during John's stay. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24 at Little Rock Funeral Home, with Dr. Bill Brown officiating. Visitation will precede the service starting at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Ark. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., (501)224-2200.
