Samuel David Harvey

Samuel David Harvey, age 68, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, in Conway, Arkansas. Born in Conway, Arkansas, October 12, 1946, he was the son of the late Eldridge and Mary Harvey. Samuel was educated at Good Shepherd Catholic school in Conway. He was a retired self employed maintenance worker in Houston, Texas, and later in Conway. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lovie Branch Harvey, three brothers, Otis, Ed Gean and Elroy Harvey. Harvey was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church in Springfield, Arkansas, where he served as a Deacon, maintenance director, Usher and a member of the Male Chorus. He also was a Trustee of the Sinai Cemetery Association and was the caretaker of the Sinai Cemetery. Harvey was well known as the Caney community "handyman." For the past 14 years Samuel participated in the distribution of free food to many senior citizens and needy persons in Faulkner and Conway counties as part of the Harvey family food ministry. Samuel is survived by four sisters: Ida Rose Dockery (William) of Kansas City, Kansas; Rutha Mar Williams (Willie) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Shirley Fuller and Patie Alvaraz of Conway; six brothers, James Harvey (Lou) of Los Angeles, California; Thomas and Charles Ezell Harvey of Kansas City, Missouri; Arthur Ray Harvey (Loretta) of Conway, Arkansas; Joseph Harvey and Father Warren Harvey of Little Rock, Arkansas. He is also survived by his good friend, Cozetta Crenshaw Mason of Conway. A visitation will be held at Sinai Church of God in Christ on Highway 286 East in Conway, on December 27, 2014, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The body will be cremated after the visitation with interment to take place next summer in Sinai Cemetery in Conway.
