Ray Edward Roberts, 89, of England Arkansas, went to be forever with our Lord Tuesday December 23, 2014. He was born in Hagler. Arkansas on September 20, 1925, to Nathan and Martha Wilkerson Roberts. Ray was an ordained minister of the Pentecostal Church of God. Over the years he owned and operated a welding/blacksmith shop and a home appliance store. He served as the Hospitality Coordinator with the Good Sam's Club of Arkansas. He served as Pastor of a Indian Mission Church in Hobart, Oklahoma for 13 months and carried them in his heart. He retired from the Department of Correction. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Navada Lyons; three brothers, Henry, J.L. and Gene Roberts;two sisters Beatrice Lyons and June Carter. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mildred Spradlin Roberts, 3 sons Eddie (Cathy) Roberts of England, J.L. (Betty) Roberts of Jacksonville and Calvin (Melba) Spradlin of England; two daughters, Majorie (Don) Kesl of Little Rock and Betty (Jimmy) Sullivan of England; 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and a host of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and an extended family whom he loved very much. He was a devoted Christian and lived his life as a man of God. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather; a kind, gentle, full of life man of God that never met a stranger. Ray loved reading, riding his golf cart around town, and his motor home across the country. Pawpaw Ray loved spending time with his family and friends most of all. A memorial Service for Mr. Roberts will be held on Sunday December 28th, 2014 at 3 p.m. at the England Pentecostal Church of God located at 109 N.W. 4th Street in England. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made to Indian Missions, P.O. Box 211866, Bedford, Texas 76095. Wilson Robison Funeral Home of England will be in charge of the arrangements.
