Edythe Guess Bell

Edythe Guess Bell formerly of Des Arc, Ark. and most recently of Benton, Ark went to be with the Lord on her 95th birthday Feb. 3, 2014. Edythe was born on Feb. 3, 1919 at Des Arc to Tura Lucene Owen Guess and George Washington Guess. Edythe was known by many names; Mom, Sister, Deedie and Friend. These names exemplified who she was, her unselfish love for her children and how she gave of her time to help family and friends. She painted, gardened and made furniture for her family and special friends. But most of all she loved cooking for her family and treasured the time she spent with them. Edythe was a member of Des Arc First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for over 40 years. She was also owner and operator of Bell's Variety Store. In addition to her parents, Edythe was preceded in death by her husband, William Jackson Bell, sisters, Elizabeth Guess Clark, Mary Guess Ford, Louise Guess Leonard and brother, Jimmie Guess. She is survived by son, Jackson Bell and Gwen of Plano, Texas, daughter Tura (Sissy) Kidd and Terry of Benton and grandchildren, Jack Bell and Melanie of Memphis, Jason Bell and Deidre of Boca Raton, Fla., Lindsay Kwait and Gavin Kwait of Plano, Texas, and Laura Cerutti and Dave of Benton, Ellen Mallard and Gabe of Little Rock and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services honoring Edythe's life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 5 at Des Arc First Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Des Arc by Garth Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Des Arc First Baptist Church. On-line guest register www.garthfuneralhome.com.
