Rhode Blanchard Causey, Jr., age 72, of Maumelle passed away on February 10, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born on January 5, 1942 in Little Rock and lived his entire life in the area. Blanchard was preceded in death by his parents Rhode Causey, Sr. and Daisy Reed Causey. He is survived by the love of his life for 54 years, wife Lynn Causey; daughter Daria Aldridge (Art) of Maumelle; daughter Vicki Steadman (Jim) of Sherwood; daughter Alyssa Burke (Stephen) of Lewisville, Texas; eight grandchildren, Natalie, Aaron, and Alyson Aldridge; Alyvia Steadman; Chase Green; Brandon, Conner and Ashlyn Burke. He is also survived by his sister, Gaylia Fortson (Gene) of Little Rock. Other survivors include his sister-in-law, Karen Lum (Chris) of North Little Rock; brother-in-law Gerald Martin (Lynn) of Atlanta, Georgia and many nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly. Blanchard adored his eight grandchildren and doted on his special group of girls… his wife and three daughters. They relished the many memories of time together on the sandy Florida beaches and family time was always a special time in his life. He and Lynn loved to travel and enjoyed both foreign and stateside travel experiences. He was educated in the North Little Rock public schools and earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He was a member of Lakewood United Methodist church and participated in numerous activities at park Hill Christian Church. Blanchard owned and operated the R.B. Causey Company on Little Rock and had provided specialized court reporting systems to over 70 Arkansas courtrooms. The firm also distributed a variety of dictating equipment and other office machines. Throughout his life, Blanchard was active in a world wide variety of outdoor sporting activities. As a youth, he won the World Championship Duck Calling Contest, Junior Division, in Stuttgart in 1952, 1953 and 1954-a consecutive three year record that stands today. Blanchard worked with the late Rollie Remmel to establish local Ducks Unlimited Chapters throughout the state. He enjoyed duck and squirrel hunting in the woods and river bottoms of Arkansas and spent many hours competing in bass tournaments on the state's lakes. Golf was one go his passions and he especially enjoyed competitive matches with his sons-in-law on their annual family vacation trips. He was active in the Blue Rock Sportsman's Club in North Little Rock where he served for many years as an officer and director and supervised the organization of various shotgun shooting competitions. In recent years, he and Lynn had expanded their love of thoroughbred horse racing by owning several horses that competed at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs as well as at other tracks. The family wishes to express thanks to the 10th floor staff at Baptist Medical Center, especially Erica Jobe, to Arkansas Hospice, and especially Debbie and Carmen, and to all his faithful family and friends who lovingly traveled this journey with him. Memorials may be made to Lakewood United Methodist Church, Park Hill Christian Church, both in North Little Rock, or to a charity of your choice. Visitation will be Thursday, February 13 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 14 at 10:00am at Park Hill Christian Church with Reverend Bob Stegall and Reverend Miles Cook officiating. Burial will be in the old section of Lonoke Cemetery.
