Joe V. Jones

Joe V. Jones, 90, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014. He was born October 20, 1923 in Village, Arkansas, son of Loren C. and Bessie Doss Jones. Mr. Jones was reared and received his early education in Village. He served in the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer during World War II. Mr. Jones was a construction superintendent for his brother, Casey Jones, and later for Stanley Cook. He briefly worked for the Pine Bluff Arsenal before retirement. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Village and attended East Side Baptist Church of Pine Bluff. Mr. Jones was an avid hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille Wilson; and brother, Casey Jones. Survivors include his wife, Mabel Robinson Jones of Pine Bluff; daughter, Jo Ann Oufnac and her husband, Frankie, of Des Allemands, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Tiffany Knight of Brunswick, Georgia, Jeremy Cheshier of Pine Bluff and Jonathan Oufnac of Des Allemands, Louisiana; nine great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and his hunting buddy, Jackie Greenham. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Josh Dutton officiating. Burial will follow in Cypress Memorial Gardens.
