Mrs. Lois "Ma" Zuber Pelton, age 98, of the Salem Community in Benton, died February 12, 2014 at the home of her daughter Syble Hill. A lifelong resident of Saline County, "Ma" as everyone called her, was a graduate of Bryant High School. She was a lover of nature and planted many flowers, trees and bushes in her yard. "Ma" loved to go to deer camp and visit old home sites where she would dig up any and everything she saw, bring it all back and a find a place in the yard for it. She loved irises, especially purple. "Ma" made quilts for all the family, worked many a word-search books, put together jig saw puzzles and could stay up all night playing dominoes and rummkube. She was a long time member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Her family, friends and church were the most important things in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Frances Zuber; her husband, Ernest Pelton; a son, Harold Pelton; granddaughter, Susan Law; six brothers and four sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Syble Hill (Eugene) of Harris Brake and Carolyn Rogers of Benton; son, Arnold Pelton (Donna) of Benton; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 14 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 15 at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Cameron Cemetery.
