Winnie Sue Mohr, 81 of Clinton, passed away December 30, 2013 in Clinton, Arkansas. She was born October 28, 1932 in Hattieville, Arkansas to Elsie and Annie Johnston. Growing up on a farm near Lanty, Arkansas she attended Wonderview High School, played on the basketball team and graduated in 1950. Sue captured her sweetheart Bradley Quincy Mohr and they married during her senior year, a union lasting over 63 years. Sue was a noted horticulturist and a member of the Iris Garden Club. She was the founder of the Ozark chapter of the American Rhododendron Society, winning a national Bronze medal for her garden comprising 25 varieties of rhododendrons, dozens of Japanese maple species and other exotic flowering plants. Hundreds of visitors toured the garden during springtime. She loved traveling with her husband to the national parks and visited all 50 states. She was a sports fanatic and an avid nature buff. A devote Christian and proud supporter of the Clinton First United Methodist Church, Sue was a loving companion to her husband and a caring mother with firm resolve and generous spirit. Her life was an example of sacrifice, love and compassion that will be missed but never forgotten. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Elsie and Annie; and her brother, Sidney Johnston. She is survived by her husband, Bradley; sons, Brad and Mark; daughter, Ida Holt; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice and The Ozark Health Nursing Home for their support in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Memorial Garden Fund, Clinton First United Methodist Church. Memorial service will be held at the 10 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Clinton First United Methodist Church with Reverend George Odell officiating. A private burial will follow at Huie Cemetery.
