Donald E. Holmes

Donald E. Holmes, 69, of Hazen, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hazel Holmes and granddaughter, Emilee Gracen Holmes. He is survived by his wife, Betty Rose Holmes; two sons, Greg Holmes and wife, Freda of Hazen and Justin Holmes and wife, Amanda of Paris, Texas; grandchildren, Caroline and James of Hazen, Emilee, Rachel, Emma and Anna of Paris, Texas; brothers, Freddie Holmes and wife Bette of Little Rock, and Gayle Holmes and wife, Anetta of Sherwood; sister, Mattie Holmes Foster and husband, Joe of Sherwood and several nieces and nephews. Donnie was a graduate of Hazen High School, a retired farmer, a life long member of the Center Point Missionary Baptist church and served as a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent for several years. He served in the Arkansas National Guard, was a member of the Center Point Cemetery Committee, and a member and past president of the Hazen School Board. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Center Point Missionary Baptist church north of Hazen. Burial will be in the Center Point Cemetery under the direction of Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen.
