Dallas Eugene Swayne, 79, of Ward passed away from this life into God's arms Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014. Dallas was born March 22, 1933 in Goodland, Kan. to the late Andrew Louden and Myrtle May (Doggett) Swayne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Doyt, Chester, Ivan and Darold Swayne. Mr. Swayne is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Sue (Shipman) Swayne; and three children, Deborah Moore (James) of Austin, David Swayne (Anita) of Athens, Ga., and Ronnie Swayne (Kara) of Sherwood. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Steve Moore, Keith Moore (Mandy), Sarah Roderick (Scott), Rachel Swayne, Drew Swayne, Tyler Swayne, Kyle Swayne, Kaylee Pickle (Andy); and one great granddaughter, Cassie Moore; as well as five brothers and sisters, Dean Swayne (Kathy), Larry Swayne (Colleen), Dorothy Swayne, Shirley Vaughan (Johnny) and Dennis Swayne (Linda). Dallas was a faithful member and servant of Christ. He served as an Elder for 25 years at Cabot Church of Christ. He made two mission trips to Belarus to spread the good news of Christ. He married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Sue, on May 27, 1953. Dallas retired in 1993 from the Arkansas Air National Guard. He served his country on active duty during the Korean War. Dallas loved helping and serving others in need. He was a self taught Bible scholar and loved sharing the Gospel. The family would like to give special thanks to all who helped him during his final days on Earth, especially the Cabot Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cabot Church of Christ; India Missions; 500 North Second Street; Cabot, Ark. 72023. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at Cabot Church of Christ with Scott Roderick officiating. Burial will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at Freck Cemetery in Marion County under the direction of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501)843-5816. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
