Our beloved Margaret Ruth Synco went to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 15, 2014 at Jefferson Regional Hospice Care in Pine Bluff. Margaret was the first child born to the late Henry Booker and Ellen L. (Askew) Synco on July 18, 1929 in Humphrey, Ark. She grew up in the Golden Sunshine Community and attended school there, graduating from Stuttgart High School in 1947. Although she had a few various jobs in her younger years, she spent over 40 years and later retired from United Insurance Company in Pine Bluff as Office Manager. Margaret had only one passion and that was the love of her God and listening to Gospel music. She would attend any gospel concert within her reach, including an area concert one month before her death. Her extended family included many gospel greats such as J.D. Sumner, James Blackwood, Hovie Lister, Jake Hess, Les Beasley, Howard and Vestal Goodman, Bill Gaither and Jerry Venable. She received more hugs and love than most people would in their lifetime. The number of friends that she acquired during her 84 years of life is too great to count. She loved her church and was a devoted member of Olive Street Baptist in Pine Bluff and after her move to Stuttgart, Park Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. She regularly attended worship and church functions until poor health prevented it. After that time, Margaret continued contact with church family and friends through telephone prayer chains. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Roy Synco and Ray Synco; and two sisters, Geneva Weatherly, and Lois Hoffman. She is survived by two brothers, Rex (Carolyn) Synco and Richard "Buck" Synco; and one sister, Francis Weischman. She was loved by nine nieces and nephews, one niece, Loywanna (Mike) Turner, whom she raised as her own daughter; and two grandchildren, Montgomery and Tanner, who gave her the name of Granny Marnet. Margaret had a heart of gold and was extremely loved by all and will be dearly missed. Graveside services honoring her life will be at Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart on Monday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m., officiated by Pastor David Inzer.
