James Edmundson Cargill Jr.

James Edmundson Cargill Jr., 79, of Bentonville, formerly of Lewisville, Arkansas, entered into rest Monday, January 20, 2014 in Bentonville. He was born February 8, 1934 to the late James E. Cargill, Sr. and Bessie Rogers Cargill in Lewisville. He attended the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville before returning to Lewisville to marry Sharon Ruth Foster, his sweetheart, and begin his family and his twin-careers. He began first as a farmer and a few years later he entered banking. He pursued both careers, until his retirement as President and CEO of the First National Bank of Lewisville when he moved to Texarkana for a time, before settling in Bentonville. He enjoyed gardening and hunting with his son, son-in-law, and his grandsons. He was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Lewisville and the Rawls Creek Deer Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon Ruth Foster Cargill and sister, Gail Freeman. Survivors include two daughters, Cindy (Mark) Dewey and Caren (Mel) Parks of Bentonville; a son, Jim (Kathleen) Cargill of Little Rock; a sister, Babs (Bill) Shaw of North Carolina; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The First United Methodist church, P.O. Box 608, Lewisville, Arkansas 71845-0608.
