Dorothy Lorene Yopp Holiman, 94, entered her heavenly home on January 24, 2014 at Applingwood Healthcare Center in Cordova, Tennessee. She was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to William Wright and Robbie Littleton Yopp. Dorothy received her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Social Science from Arkansas State University in 1946 and her Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) from Washington University in St. Louis in 1958. She was a psychiatric social worker first at the Arkansas State Mental Hospital and then at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock. She married Don Forsyth Holiman in 1963, and they moved to Dallas, Texas, where Don was a court reporter in a criminal court and Dorothy a homemaker. Upon her husband's retirement in 1979, they moved to Little Rock, Arkansas. Dorothy moved back to Jonesboro in 1982 to care for her mother. In addition to her desire to help others through psychiatric social work, Dorothy has always loved music, and she possessed a lovely soprano voice. She sang in numerous church musical presentations and continued to enjoy singing throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Holiman; her parents, William "Bill" and Robbie Yopp; and her older sister Verna Love, who died in infancy. She is survived by her only child, Lisa Crosthwait (Jack) and her granddaughter Caroline Crosthwait. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time in the Emerson Memorial Chapel.
