Susie Nakako Harless, 82, of Rogers, Arkansas, formerly of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on April 22, 1931 in Tokyo, Japan. Susie passed away on Friday, January 24, 2014 in Bentonville, Arkansas. Susie met and married her best friend and sweetheart, Leland Carrol Harless on April 1, 1959 in Yokohama, Japan. They moved from Japan to Elk City, Oklahoma in 1959 where they made their home and started a family that included a daughter, Cheryl and a son, Michael. They shared over fifty four years of being happily married together. They were inseparable. She was known by all that knew her as a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. The family moved to Rogers, Arkansas in 1988 and Susie always felt like Arkansas reminded her a lot of Tokyo, Japan. She loved to garden, cook and sew but most of all she loved spending time with her family and made sure that taking care of each one of them was top of her list. Susie was a very talented mother and friend she shared all that she grew and made including the beautiful quilts that will be cherished by all that received one. Her smile could light up a room and make any day or situation better just by seeing it. Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Martin-Dugger Funeral Chapel in Elk City, Oklahoma. Rev. Danny Ringer will officiate. Interment will at Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to the charity of your choice in care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home, P.O. Box 707, Elk City, Oklahoma 73648. Susie is survived by her husband, Leland Carrol Harless of the home; one daughter, Cheryl Eslin and her husband, Van of Rogers, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Mindy Campbell and her husband Ben of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Brandon Eslin of Rogers, Arkansas.
