Gary L. Williams, 61, died January 14, 2014, after a brief stay in the hospital trying to overcome congestive heart failure. He was born June 28, 1952 in Alpena, Arkansas and graduated high school from there. He attended the University of Arkansas and received his degree in Mathematics. Gary began his career teaching high school in Berryville, Ark. and later found employment at the Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation (AECC) in Little Rock. As a Senior Analyst in Planning, he was a loyal and devoted employee of AECC for 33 years. Gary was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Little Rock. He enjoyed playing piano for services and weddings and many times he would play his own composed music. He loved gardening, reading, movies, cooking, puzzles, crocheting and so much more! One of Gary's favorite pastimes was The Diamond State Rodeo Association (DSRA). As the Treasurer and Social Coordinator, he volunteered many years of service to DSRA by sitting on the Board of Directors, working rodeos and attending almost every fundraiser over the past ten years. Also, Gary loved to drink coffee with his Waffle House Benton buddies and spend his weekends in the "mountains." Gary resided in Benton. His survivors are his Aunt Viola Williams, nephews Eric and Patrick Williams, and several cousins of Harrison, Ark. A Celebration of His Life will be Friday, Jan. 31, 6 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of LR, 1818 Reservoir Rd., Little Rock, Ark. 72227. The Family requests that memorial donations be made to the DSRA, Inc. P.O. Box 190441, Little Rock, Ark. 72209. DSRA's charities are the Arkansas Freedom Fund and Hearts and Hooves.
