Charles (Charlie) Fredrick Collie

CHARLES (CHARLIE) FREDRICK COLLIE of Mabelvale, Ark. passed away on July 2, 2014. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Collie; mother, Edwina Smith; sisters, Barbara Thompson and Beverly McCluskey. He is survived by his brother, Jay Collie; sisters, Jeannie Rousse and Cindy Claussen; his son, Robbie Collie of Ward, Ark.; his daughters, Vickie Collie of Hot Springs, Tammy Hanner of Bryant, Ark. and Amanda Buckingham of Tulsa, Okla.; his grandchildren, Samantha Hooper, Hunter Collie, Quintin Brown, Mikayla Komm, Spencer Hanner, Max Hanner and Gracie Buckingham; and two great-grandchildren. Charlie was born in Little Rock on Sept. 7, 1939. He graduated from Central High School in Little Rock and later joined the United States Army. He was served on the USS Toledo where he learned to become a welder and continued on as his trade. He was very creative with his welding skills. Charlie proudly served as a Little Rock Firefighter and later retired but continued working as a welder. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, from 6–8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy 5 N., Alexander, 501-455-1067.
