Gertie Ann Lucy Harp

Gertie Ann Lucy Harp, age 72 of Malvern, died Friday, July 4, 2014 at her home. She was born in Blytheville, Ark. on June 3, 1942 to the late William Ralph Lucy and Annie Roe Garrison Lucy. Reared and educated in Hot Spring County, she graduated Malvern High School in 1960. She was among the first students to attend Ouachita Vo-Tech, now College of the Ouachitas. Ann had been involved with the Hot Spring County Historical Society, was a lifelong member and past president and treasurer of Friends of the Malvern/Hot Spring County Library, and was a member of the Hot Spring County and Garland County Extension Homemakers Club. She volunteered for many years at the Senior Adult Center, and chaired committees for Brickfest for 10 years. Ann loved to read, to sew, to work in her flower beds, and enjoyed traveling and fishing with her husband, Billy Jack. She was a Baptist by denomination. She is survived by her husband, Billy Jack Harp, to whom she was married on Dec. 12, 1981; by her children, Renee Howerton (Kenny), Caline Hathcock (Mark), Diane Yates (Ray), Laura Faulkner (Glynn), Damon Harp, and Shane Harp (Verna); grandchildren, Wayne Bonds (Ashley), Dillon Petty (Tiffany), Caitlin Howerton, Tiffany Hathcock, John Harp (Crissy), Leah Soto (Abel), Andrew Harp, and Ashley Faulkner; great-grandchildren, Eli Petty, Aubrey Petty, Reed Bonds, Case Bonds, Skylah Davis, Ski Graham, Andrea Harp, Dante Luttrell, Demi Luttrell, Brandon Luttrell, Kalee Luttrell, Laura Luttrell, Alena Albertson; brother, Henry Lee Lucy (Sharon) of Coal Hill, Ark.; sister, Joy Sheridan (Carlee) of Malvern; sisters-in-law, Jean Campos and Linda Cargile, both of Malvern. She was also preceded in death by a son, Bill Hamilton. The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral home on Sunday afternoon, July 6, 2014 from 2-4 o'clock. Graveside service will be at 10 o'clock Monday morning, July 7, 2014 in the Magnet Cove Cemetery with Brother Joe Cook officiating. Pallbearers will be: Mark Hathcock, Kenny Howerton, Ray Yates, Wayne Bonds, Dillon Petty, and Andrew Harp. Memorials are requested to the Malvern/Hot Spring County Library.
