WILLIAM J. "BILL" BROWN, 84, died July 3, 2014. Bill was born in Alpin, Ark., to Roy and Ida Cox Brown. He grew up in Perryville and graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA). He served as corporal in the US Army Infantry then served a 34-year career as the Assistant Commissioner of Revenue – Operations & Administration in the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. Bill loved to hunt, camp, fish and spend time with his family. After retiring, he enjoyed golfing and traveling. Bill was predeceased by his two sisters, Donna Steely and Eva Scroggins; brother, James "Buddy" Brown; and grandson, Alex Berg. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Ann Basham Brown; his daughter, Becky Tyrrell (Brent) of Little Rock; and sons, Mike of Botkinburg, Ark., Jack (Jill) of Littleton, Colo. and Gary of Houston, Texas; step-daughters, Leslie Berg Bertasi (Raymond), Camille Ball (Ron) of Little Rock and Karen Anderson of Glen Allen, Va. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, Jared Brown of New York, N.Y., Hannah Brown of Taiyuan, China, Garrett Brown of Conway, Heather Tyrrell of Little Rock, Nick Berg of Memphis, Tenn., Matthew Ball of Maumelle, Casey Ball of Fayetteville, Jack, Tori, Christian, Lizzie Anderson all of Glen Allen, Va.; step-granddaughters, Michelle O'Hagan of Chicago, Jennifer Mitchell of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and four great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Monday, July 7, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock.
