Charles Austin "Nub" Young, 75, was born on May 1, 1939 to Clifton Young and Ruth Montgomery. Having been born in Frog Level, Arkansas, the Lord showing his sense of humor brought Nub to Toad Suck, Arkansas where he graduated to glory surrounded by his loving family, on July 5, 2014. Nub graduated from De Queen High School in 1957, where he set a school record for pole-vaulting in track and field. He attended the University of Arkansas where he majored in business. An active servant of the Lord, he was ordained at the age of 25, the youngest to be ordained at DeQueen First Baptist Church, where he also served as chairman of the deacons. He later held this position at both Ripley Baptist and Trinity Baptist in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Nub was a Sunday school teacher for 30 years and was a member of South Jefferson Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. He and his wife Doylene were Severe County Farm Family of the year. He owned H&H Wholesale Florists and The Lollipop Shop in De Queen, Arkansas, and a Chicken Brokerage Firm called Midwest Foods of Texas. He was also employed by Mountaire Poultry, later known as Pilgrim's Pride, as a Grower, Sales Manger, and as an Auditor. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Vernon Young; and mother-in-law Lona Kitchens. Nub is survived by his wife Doylene Selman Young, they began their journey together on July 5, 1959 and ended their earthly journey on July 5, 2014; his three daughters and three sons-in-love, Laura Walls (Butch), Sheila Eddy (Scott), Kristen "KiKi" Fobell (Chris); Papa to 11 grandchildren, Travis Walls, Tara Adams (Nate), Tyler Walls (Ashley), Sarah, Rebekah, & Daniel Eddy, Kaitlyn Bretches, Parker Jones, Victoria, Jillian, and Abigail Fobell; two great-grandchildren Justice & Gracelyn Walls; his sister Erma Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews. The celebration of Nub's life will be held at South Jefferson Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, Texas on Sunday, July 13th at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Gideon's International (www.gideons.org), Heifer International (www.heifer.org), World Vision (www.wvi.org), or the charity of your choice.
