James Edward "Jim" Ligon, 88, of Benton, Ark., passed away into the arms of the Lord early Sunday, July 13, 2014, after a brief illness. He was born May 19, 1926, in Yazoo City, Miss. to the late Fred and Rosa Ligon. He was a retired mechanical contractor, owner of Ligon Plumbing & Heating Co., past president of the Arkansas Mechanical Contractors Association, and a member of First Baptist Church-Benton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Jean (Roberson) Ligon. He is survived by his children, Karen "Sissy" Wagnon and husband Ted, Terri Marshall, Kevin Ligon and wife Kathryn, Lisa McClain; and special daughter-in-law, Lynn Ligon; grandchildren, Amy McDonnell Wike and husband Patrick, Misty Summerhill Winfrey and husband Scott, Carissa Wagnon Godwin and husband Jason, Jody McDonnell and wife Cari, Jay Ligon and wife Makayla, Ryan Johnson and wife Rachael, Russell McClain, and Grace McClain; 12 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, from 1-2 p.m., with funeral service at 2 p.m; both at First Baptist Church-Benton. Funeral officiants will be Dr. Rick Grant, Frances Raley, and Laurie Cox. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Benjamin Carlyle, Dr. Jerry Dixon, and the nurses and staff in the Critical Care Unit of Saline Memorial Hospital.
