Guy Leslie "Pat" Capps, 87, of Malvern, Ark. passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014. He was born July 20, 1926 in Knoxville, Ark. He was the son of Walter Wooden and Loretta Robertson Capps. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; six sisters; and two grandchildren. Pat was a World War II veteran and a member of the "Greatest Generation", having served in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in the Philippine Islands serving as a aircraft mechanic. Upon his discharge from the military, Pat returned to his parents' home at Jones Mill, Ark. He got acquainted with his new next door neighbor, Josie Mae Burrow, and they were married on Sept. 13, 1947. He made his profession of faith and was baptized, and united with Meadow View Missionary Baptist Church in June 1957. Pat retired from Reynolds Metals Co. and had also worked at other aluminum plants in Ohio, Tennessee, and Missouri. He enjoyed working on small engines as a hobby after his retirement from Reynolds in 1986, and loved spending time outdoors while hunting in South Arkansas. He was one of the founding members of the Capps Hunting Club. Pat is survived by his wife of 66 and one half years, Josie Mae Capps. Pat and Jo raised three children: a son, Guy Alan (Carolyn) Capps of Little Rock; two daughters, Carolyn Capps of Malvern and Susan Carter of Marysville, Ohio; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. There will be a visitation Monday, July 21, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Atkinson Chapel in Malvern. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. also at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at DeRouche Cemetery near Bismarck. Officiating the services will be Shawn Holland. Honorary pallbearers will be the guys at Deer Camp. Special thanks go to Pat's caregivers during his stays at Chenal Nursing and Rehab in Little Rock, and at Southern Trace Nursing Center in Bryant.
