Robert Harry Kreimeyer

Robert Kreimeyer, 87, died July 20th, 2014, at Cabot Nursing Home and Rehab in Cabot, Arkansas. Mr. Kreimeyer was born July 19, 1927 in Yoder, Arkansas, the youngest son of Friedrich and Sophia Kreimeyer. He lived what many would consider an almost unbelievable life story. Raised on a farm, then joining the United States Air Force, he was a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He "retired" as a Senior Master Chief and moved back to Arkansas in 1966. While working full time at KARK-TV, he went back to school, graduating Magna Cum Laude from UALR and receiving his Master's Degree in Education from UCA. Mr. Kreimeyer, who like his father, never quite grasped the concept of "idle, non-productive recreational time", spent the next 30 years teaching math and electronics, starting at Metropolitan Vocational School, where he was instrumental in building the KLRE radio station, to Arkansas School for the Blind, which he described as "his most challenging, heart-wrenching, and rewarding" position, to eventually ending his career as a part-time teacher at Riceland Foods and Carrier Air-conditioning in Stuttgart, while also working part-time as a mail attendant in the Ulm Post Office. His last few years where devoted to staying abreast of the news, and tending his bountiful garden. Mr. Kreimeyer had the pleasure of visiting every state of the Union, and almost every country in the world, with the exception of members of the former Soviet Union and Communist China. He had extensive stays in Japan, Brazil, Nicaragua, Saudi Arabia, and Germany. Mr. Kreimeyer was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Doris, and brothers Raymond, Victor, Chester, Leo, and sister Lucille. He is survived by his sisters Evelyn Kreimeyer and Esther Stotik, two sons, three grandchilden, and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Kreimeyer was reunited July 21st with wife Doris at Ulm Cemetery in a private ceremony surrounded by his immediate family. Arrangements made by Turpin Funeral Home.
