Dan H. Cain

Dan H. Cain, age 85, of Hot Springs, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014. He was born on June 16, 1929 in Royal, the son of Victor Cain and Katie Reese Cain. On April 20, 1947, he was married to Vernece Shackelford. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Billy Joe Cain. Dan was a charter member of Hot Springs Baptist Church and was chairman of the Arkansas Manufactured Housing Association where he is in their hall of fame. He retired at the age of 55 and was the owner of Cain's Mobile Homes. After his retirement, Dan enjoyed working in his garden and landscaping his yard. He and Vernece also enjoyed taking cruises and traveling around the world. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Vernece Cain of Hot Springs; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Tom and Diana Cain of Little Rock; one daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Brian Breech of Bryant; four grandchildren, Matthew Cain of Jackson, Mississippi, Rebekah Harrison of Portland, Oregon, Paige Breech of Little Rock, and Scott Breech of Bryant; and five great-grandchildren, Lauren Cain of Fayetteville, and Angelene Cain, Brooklynn Cain, Christianne Cain, and Madeline Cain, all of Little Rock; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. A celebration of Dan's life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 26, 2014 in the Hot Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Gerald Taylor officiating.
