William Hayden Landers

Dr. William Hayden Landers, 71, of El Dorado, died July 25, 2014 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Miss. "Bill" was born June 12, 1943 in Dallas, Texas. He was the first of three sons born to Dr. Gardner Hayden Landers and Frances Maschal Landers. Dr. Landers was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lynn May Landers; and two daughters, Allison Landers (Dennington) Moss and Andrea Landers (Justin) Huntley; and one son, William Jeffrey (Ashley) Landers. His six grandchildren called him "Papa". They are Gardner Landers Moss, Ella Clayton Moss, Hadley Dennington Moss, Mary Hayden Huntley, Georgia Scott Huntley, and Champlin Clark Huntley. His seventh grandchild (a boy) is due in September. He is also survived by his two brothers, Dr. James Howard (Linda) Landers and Judge Michael Richard (Susan) Landers. Bill was an optometrist in practice with his father and then with South Arkansas Eye Clinic. His practice started in 1969 until his retirement in 2005. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in El Dorado serving as a deacon and an elder. His other civic involvements included Rotary Club, Jaycees, a past president of the Boys and Girls Club, and past chairman of the United Way. Bill's children can tell you how much he loved all sports. Golf and tennis became his favorites. The memorial service for Dr. Landers will be at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church followed by a visitation in the Fellowship Hall.
