Judy Kay Smith Hardin, age 72, of Bryant, went to be with the Lord Friday, May 30, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 24, 1942 to the late Ernest N. Smith and Edna L. Smith Caldwell of Calico Rock, Ark. Judy was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Milton Lee "Chick" Hardin; and two daughters, Melissa Ann and Lawanna Kaye Hardin. She is survived by her daughters, Melinda L. Moore and her husband Phillip of Little Rock, and Jennifer N. Hardin of Bryant; son, Chad A. Hardin of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Andrew L. Hardin and wife Kala of Benton, Mackenzie Hardin and Nicholas Hardin of Bryant; one great-granddaughter, Ava N. Hardin of Bryant; and many loving friends and relatives. Judy graduated from Benton High School in 1959 and shortly after moved to Texas with her husband and children and it was there that she began her life-fulfilling job with the school district at Vines High School in Plano, Texas. Judy and her family were given the opportunity to move back to Arkansas to be close to their family and friends. Shortly after the move back home, Judy began her career with the Little Rock School District at J.A. Fair High School where she worked for 28 years as a Guidance Secretary. Her passion was working with and helping children. It brought tremendous joy to her life. Judy was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed and forever loved. Pallbearers will be Tristen Edwards, Garrett Edwards, Jacob Edwards, Brian Ahart, Dandee Bryant, Wes Moore and Colton Brown. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 2 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 3 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Pine Crest Memorial Park. Bro.
