Eileen Emick Castle

Eileen Emick Castle, 84, passed away at her home in Hardy, Ark. June 2, 2014. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until the memorial service began at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. She was married in 1950 at First Evangelical Church. She and her husband, Guthrie remained members there until their retirement to Hardy, Ark. in 1993. While a member at First Evan, Eileen was an active member of the choir, The Women's Auxiliary, and served as a Superintendent of the Sunday School. In the 1970's she was a CASA volunteer for the Shelby County Juvenile Court. She received her undergraduate degree in the early 1980's from Memphis State University, and then taught 4th grade at A.B. Hill Elementary School. For many years she also taught English to Jewish Ukraine Immigrants through the Jewish Community Center. She served as chairman of the Hardy Garden Club for 4 years. Mrs. Castle is survived by her husband of 64 years, Frank Guthrie Castle Sr.; children, Guthrie Castle Jr., Teresa Castle Blanton both of Germantown, Tenn., William N. Castle, DDS of Memphis, Tenn. and David Castle (Elizabeth) of Ridgefield, Conn.; brother, Harold Emick Jr. of Panama City Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth and Cristia Castle, Trish Blanton Simpson (Josh), Maggie Blanton Long (Jason), Wesley Blanton (Sarah) and Emily, Robert and Lauren Castle; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Linnie Simpson and Braxton Long.
