Robert W. Riley Sr.

Major Robert W. Riley Sr., USAF Ret., age 97, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014. He was born July 22, 1916 in McGee, Arkansas to the late Thomas Morgan and Myrtle Trimm Riley. Mr. Riley graduated from Central High School of Little Rock and attended college at what is now, Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas, as a member of the class of 1938. He was a former member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Major Riley was a member and Armament Officer of the Dynamite Gang-367 Fighter Group that was attached to General Patton's Army during WWII and was also a part of the D-Day invasion. He continued to be very active until just recently, enjoying rug weaving, craft fairs and woodworking. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Louisa Riley; sisters, Elizabeth (Charles) Ison and Martha (Bob) Jackson; and a brother, Thomas M. Riley Jr. Survivors are his wife, Maria Rose Riley; his three sons, Robert W. Riley, Jr. and his wife, Jan of Phoenix, Arizona, Thomas Albert Riley of Phoenix, Arizona, and Michael David Riley and his wife, Nettie of Marion, Arkansas; one sister Carol Virginia Baber and her husband, Jim of Waco, Texas; nine grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, June 13, 2014 from 10-11 a.m., with funeral services immediately following at 11 a.m. at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home.
