Larry Dean Jones

LARRY DEAN JONES, aged 64, died at home in Maumelle, Ark. on June 20, 2014. He was born in Dallas, Texas on Oct. 15,1949 to Edward Calvin and Ida Lee Orr Jones. He graduated from high school in Gilliam, Ark. and attended college at Henderson State in Arkadelphia. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his sister, Clara Jones and her husband, Dr. Steve Jones of El Dorado. Larry left a scattered network of friends and acquaintances all over the country. He was a traveling salesman who liked selling, but loved traveling. He might have been considered a loner except that he made friends easily and was always in the thick of things. He enjoyed immensely having visited several countries and 49 states. He joked that he was still waiting for a bridge to Hawaii. From Portland, Maine to Portland, Ore., from Savannah to San Diego he knew how to find cheap lodging, good food, and a convivial bar - where everybody knew his name. He could put more miles on a rental car in a month than most people in a year. He loved to write but refused to be bothered by conventional rules of punctuation. He loved Razorback Basketball and never gave up on next year. He was a fiercely tender hearted liberal and proud of it. A private service will be planned for a future date. Any among the myriad of people whose lives he touched, however briefly, know that he would be humbled by any memorial left in his name to any worthy cause. Cremation services provided by Young's Funeral Directors.
