Roy Arden Howell

Roy Arden Howell, 68, of Hot Springs went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 20, 2014 peacefully at his home. He was born Feb. 5, 1946 in Antoine to Guy and Rebecca Violet Nolen Howell. Roy enjoyed reading many western novels and spending time with all of his grandchildren. He was an avid hunter, and never missed a NASCAR race. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his two beloved dogs, Jazmine and Lily. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Doris Lynn Howell; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Shane Byrd, of Magnet Cove; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Dottie Howell, of Endicott, Wash., and Steve and Eva Howell of Poyen; brother, Tommy Howell, of Antoine; aunt, May Byers, of Delight; 14 grandchildren, Christian, Andrew, Sara, Beau, McKenzie, Jessica, Brian, Mason, Kris, Brandon, Gwen, Chris, Haley, and Jada; five great-grandchildren, Keaton, Noah, Joel, Daman, and Brandy; among many other friends and family. The family will receive friends this afternoon (Sunday) from 2-4 p.m. at Gross Funeral Home. A celebration of Roy's life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday June 23, 2014 in the chapel of Gross Funeral Home, with Bro. Bobby Goodknight officiating. Burial will follow at Fourche Loup cemetery.
