LOUIS W. TARKINGTON, 89, of Little Rock, died March 1, 2014. Mr. Tarkington was born Nov. 13, 1924 to the late James R. and Mabel Tarkington at Stuttgart. He is also preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters; and his grandson, Bradley Warren Tarkington. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy; a son, Dennis of Gadsden, Ala.; a daughter, Susan (Mike) Rankin of Little Rock; grandsons, Jay (Kristin) Rankin of Little Rock and Todd Rankin of New York, N.Y.; and great-grandsons, Joshua Bradley Tarkington of Elko, Nevada and Dylan Luke Rankin of Little Rock. He is also survived by one sister, Tennie Tarkington Vickers; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Tarkington served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He retired in 1986 as a plant manager of Pillsbury Foods in Pine Bluff. He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to First Christian Church, 1500 N. Mississippi, Little Rock, Ark. 72207 or the charity of your choice. Visitation will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, at Turpin Funeral Home, 1107 W. 22nd Street, Stuttgart, Ark. 72160.
