Janet Hendrickson (Strouts)

JANET HENDRICKSON (STROUTS), 98, of Little Rock Ark., passed on Saturday, March 1, 2014. Janet was born May 18, 1915, in Minneapolis, Minn. to the late William and Margaret Strouts. The family moved to Sparta, Wis. where she grew up and graduated from Sparta High School in 1934. She then attended Madison Business college, where she met her future husband, Joel Hendrickson. They married in 1943 and resided in Madison, Wis. Janet was widowed in 1959 and traveled around the world, eventually settling in Kailua, Hawaii. Among her many interests were the Honolulu Symphony and Queens Medical Center, where she was an active volunteer. In 1986, Janet moved to Little Rock, Ark. in order to be closer to her family. While residing in Little Rock, she become a volunteer with the Little Rock Newcomers Club, Baptist Auxillary and Baptist Health Medical Center. She was a dedicated and caring volunteer at the Baptist Health Medical center for over 20 years. She loved outdoor life. Among her passions were camping, fishing, and gardening. She also enjoyed swimming daily, whether it be the ocean in Hawaii or the pool in Little Rock or the lake in Hot Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Hendrickson of Madison, Wis.; her brother, Robert A. Strouts of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and her sister, Margaret Erdman of Redwing, Minn. She is survived by her nieces, Kris Strouts of Little Rock, Ark. and Jill Shea of Spooner, Wis.; and nephews, Robert A. Strouts II of Herndon, Va., and Tim Erdman of Calif. A memorial service will be held at Baptist Health Chapel, Little Rock on Wednesday March 12, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CareLink.
