Belva June Glanton, 93, of Hope, Arkansas passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 in her home. Belva June was born July 17, 1920 in DeAnn, Arkansas to Jessie Calvin and Annie Lowe Burke. She was retired from the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism. She worked at Old Washington State Park for over 28 years and was instrumental in making the park what it is today. She was a homemaker, an avid gardener who loved flowers and a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Hope, Arkansas. Mrs. Glanton was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, Fred A. Glanton; her daughter, Poleda C. Glanton; a sister, Arlene Burke Willis and a brother, James H. Burke. Belva June is survived by two brothers, Rev. Ralph Burke of Dallas, Texas and Johnny C. (Barbara) Burke of Hot Springs, Arkansas; two sisters, Anne Woodward of Magnolia, Arkansas and Sue Roe of Santa Ana, California; sister-in-law, Lucille Glanton Wall and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to say a special thank you to her caregivers who provided very kind and loving care for several years. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home between the hours of 6-8 p.m. Services will be Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home.
