Lavon Lloyd Vaden

Lavon Lloyd Vaden, 87, of Hamburg, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014. Mrs. Vaden was a native of Drew County and a resident of Hamburg for the past 55 years. She graduated from Arkansas A&M at Monticello and was a school teacher for 43 years. She started teaching at the Carpenter School in Drew County when she was 17 years old and taught at Jerome, Dermott and later at Hamburg. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and an active member of the First Baptist Church having served on the flower and hospitality committees. She loved cooking, gardening, reading, cooking for other people, embroidery, playing Bunco and spending time with family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur & Callie LaGrone Lloyd, seven brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Roy Walker Vaden of Hamburg; a son, Tim Vaden and wife, Julie, of Crossett; two sisters, Martha Chapman of Hamburg and Carolyn Beckham of Palatka, Florida and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Saturday at the First Baptist Church with burial in the Prairie Grove Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Friday.
