Dorothy L. Sturdy

DOROTHY L. STURDY, of Sherwood, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014. She was born on Dec. 30, 1935 in Tichnor, Ark. to the late John W. Sandage and Anna M. Carlile. Dorothy provided a loving, happy home for her family as a homemaker and also worked at Sherwood Library. She loved gardening and was often found "bottoms-up" in her yard. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her son, John David Sturdy. She is survived by her husband, John V. Sturdy; two sons, Richard (Mary) Sturdy of Kansas, and Phillip (Susan) Sturdy of Lamar, Ark.; a daughter, Mary (Gary) Fromm of Sherwood; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Johnnie Huckabee and Ina Spencer. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church, 7351 Warden Road, Sherwood, with interment following at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. (501-791-7400).
