Mr. Johnie Lawrence Jr., 80, of Jacksonville, AR, went home to be with his Lord on March 19, 2014, at his home surrounded be his wife, family and friends in Jacksonville, AR. Johnie was born September 09, 1933. He was preceded in death by his parents Johnie and Clara Lawrence, sisters Ruth Ann Green, Lillie Mae Brown and Marcie Jean Session. Johnie is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Patsy Lawrence, sons, Mark Lawrence (Denise) of Charleston, S.C., Scott Lawrence of Little Rock, Paul Lawrence (Lora) of Little Rock and Philip Lawrence of Jacksonville; one daughter, Dawn Carroll (Fredrick) of Sherwood. Also survived by brothers, Charles (Lillie) Lawrence, Frank (Cherry) Spencer and Harold (Melba) Nelson and sisters, Annie (Marshall) Payton, Ruby Shipley, Dorothy (Thomas) Parker and Annette Johnson and 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Johnie loved to go fishing and hunting and his true love was preaching the Word of God to the lost. He received his Honorary Doctorate from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. Johnie proudly served as Pastor of McAlmont Church of Christ for 37 years. Johnie honorably served our country in the US Army and was a Sargent in the Korean War where he received a Good Conduct Medal and the Korean Service Medal. Spring time was his favorite time of year and he loved to eat lemon drops. Visitation will be held at McAlmont Church of Christ 1824 E. 46th St. NLR, Ark., Saturday, 6-8 p.m. March 22, 2014. Services will be held Sunday March 23, 2014 at 2 p.m at McAlmont Church of Christ, 1824 E. 46th St., NLR, Ark. with Bro. Loyd Clay Harris officiating.
