Arlene Nisbet Strackbein, age 79, of Roland passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 surrounded by her family and beloved dog "Sweetie". Arlene was a member of First Assembly of God in North Little Rock and also attended Highland Valley UMC. Arlene lived in Little Rock most of her life. She graduated from Little Rock High School and attended Little Rock Junior College where she studied music and education. She worked as a medical transcriptionist at the VA Hospital in Little Rock. After many years of working in the VA system, she was promoted and worked as the Administrative Assistant to Dr. Towbin, Chief of Staff. In 1972, Arlene experienced a miraculous healing. She gave her testimony in many churches across the United States and was a guest on the Donahue Show. Her story was included in Kathryn Kuhlman's book "Nothing Is Impossible With God". Arlene was ordained into Christian ministry by Bethany Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, La. She co-led a Bible Study-Share Group in her home for several decades. She touched the lives of many though her ministry of spiritual counseling and prayer. Arlene is predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Gilbert Strackbein. She is survived by two daughters, Denise Strackbein and Sharon Burrall and her husband Randy. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Robert Lemming and wife Amy, Greg Reeves and fiancé Heather Sonnentag, Chris Reeves and fiancé Kimberly Dunlap and Kathryn Burrall. Arlene is also survived by cousin Dorothy Sparkman Henniger and two great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her father, John A. Nisbet; mother, Evelyn Stringfellow Boudra; daughter, Lisa Kay Strackbein Hill; brother, Tommy Boudra; aunt, Bereniece Chew and grandson, David Burrall. Visitation will be held at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, Little Rock, Arkansas, (501) 224-8300 Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 24 at 10 a.m. at Highland Valley United Methodist Church in Little Rock.
