Gladya Hall Ridgway

Gladys Hall Ridgway, age 98, of Steprock and Searcy passed away in Searcy on Thursday, March 20, 2014. She was born November 5, 1915, at Rison and moved to Pine Bluff as a young child. Mrs. Ridgway graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1934 and married William Basil Ridgway on November 24 the same year. Mr. Ridgway predeceased her on June 17, 2006, after 72 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her mother and stepfather, Brittie and Oscar Roundtree. Mrs. Ridgway is survived by two sons and their wives, James and Sherrie Ridgway and Kenneth and Carolyn Ridgway of Steprock, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and a nephew. While living in Pine Bluff, Mrs. Ridgway attended Hawley Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Tennie Ella Class, an active circle member and was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women. She was a charter member of the Union Extension Homemakers Club, an avid reader and bridge player. While younger, Mr. and Mrs. Ridgway enjoyed fishing the White River Refuge and playing dominoes with their church friends. In 2002, Mr. and Mrs. Ridgway moved to Steprock to be near their children and joined the Pleasant Plains United Methodist Church. The family wishes to thank the Searcy Health Care Center for their loving kindness to Mrs. Ridgway during her stay there. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Bill Mills officiating.
