Jimmy Richard Smith

Jimmy Richard Smith, 83, of Benton, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014. He was the son of Richard and Floy Smith who preceded him in death as well as an infant sister, Louise and brother-in-law, H. A. Steele. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bertha Mae Dobbs Smith; daughter, Deborah; sisters, Patsy Smith Steele, Pam Smith Newcomb (Gary); brothers, Ronnie Mac Smith (Brenda) all of Benton and Robert "Bob" Smith (Sue) of Pine Bluff; also several nephews; nieces; and close friends. Jimmy was a member of Northside Church of Christ, retired with 30 years of service from Executone of Arkansas, served in the U.S. Navy four years during the Korean War, a member of the local Blue Lodge, then became a Shriner and later a 33 Degree Mason and served as a DeMolay Dad for several years. He was involved with the Longhills Junior Golf Program for 10 years. Graveside memorial service was held Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Old Rosemont Cemetery with Joel Lewis presiding.
