John Michael Barrett, Sr.

John Michael Barrett Sr., 61 of Hot Springs, died Sunday, March 23, 2014. Mike was born September 8, 1952 in McGehee to Mary (Parks) Barrett and the late Ervin Barrett. He is also preceded in death by a brother, James Barrett. Mike retired from Union Pacific Railroad. He enjoyed watching the horse races. He is survived by his mother, Mary Barrett of Cabot; children John Barrett Jr. and wife Michelle of Sherwood, Michele Barrett of Conway, Jody Weaver and husband George of Jacksonville, Nita Simmons of Dallas, and Lesley Simmons of Walla Walla, Wash.; a host of grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 at New Beginnings Mission, 3301 Hwy. 294, Jacksonville, where Mr. Barrett accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. www.arkansasfuneralcare.com.
