Cloyd "Bob" Robert Breeden, 89 of Franklin, Tenn., died at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Grace Health Care. He was born August 11, 1924 at Carterville, Mo., and was the son of Cloyd H. and Ethel Farmer Breeden. He was reared and educated at Picher, Okla. and graduated from Picher High School in 1942. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Oklahoma at Norman, Okla. in 1948 and Master of Sanitary Science in 1956, also from the University of Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and served in the First Infantry Division. He made the invasion of Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944, where he landed on Omaha Beach. He received the Bronze Star, Bronze Arrowhead, Five Campaign Battle Stars, a unit citation and the Normandy medal from the French government. Following military service and educational activities, he was employed by the Oklahoma State Health Department, where he worked in the Public Health Lab in Oklahoma City, Okla. He and his family moved to Pine Bluff, Ark. in 1957, he was employed as a microbiologist in the Safety Division, Directorate of Biological Operations (DBO) at the Pine Bluff Arsenal. Transferred to the Federal Food and Drug Administration at NCTR, where he was employed as a Para Pathologist until retirement in January 1987. He was Active member and Deacon of First Baptist Church, member of sanctuary choir and a member of the John Fox Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife, Claudia Stipp Breeden, to whom he was married August 24, 1947 in Picher, Okla.; two sons, Neil Robert Breeden of Franklin, Tenn. and Phillip Alan Breeden (Jeanette) also of Franklin, Tenn., grandchildren, Laine Robert Breeden of Florida, Bayley Smith (Scott), Cooper Alan Breeden both of Franklin, Tenn. and Jessie Smit (Greg) also of Franklin, Tenn. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Nadine Breeden. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March, 29, 2014, at First Baptist Church, Pine Bluff, Ark., with Dr. Harold Mitchell officiating. Burial to follow in Graceland Cemetery with military honors.Services are arranged and conducted by Highland Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Nashville, Tenn., and Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
