Max McCarty

Max McCarty, resident of Hazen, Ark., passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at the age of 86 years old. Born Dec. 28, 1927 at Woodrow, Ark., he was the son of the late Andy and Nancy Arizona (Everett) McCarty. Mr. McCarty was a retired carpenter. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the United States Army and was awarded a purple heart for his service to our country. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCarty was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Tapley McCarty; four brothers, Billy, Bobby, Haze, and Arnold McCarty; two sisters, Jessie George and Elva Jennings. He is survived by his wife, Pauline McCarty of Batesville; brother, Ted McCarty of St. Louis, Mo.; sister, Jean Burnett of Greenville, Mo.; daughter, Sharon Vinson of Snyder, Texas; two sons, Larry McCarty and his wife Michelle of Snyder, Texas, and Terry McCarty and his wife, Joie of Hazen, Ark.; five grandchildren, Meghan and Mitchell McCarty of Hazen, Misty Pepper of Louisiana, Jeremy Vinson of Montana, Shawn Vinson of Snyder, Texas; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Palestine Baptist Church near Heber Springs. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
