Miriam "Mystrey" (Schults) McCabe

Miriam "Mystrey" (Shults) McCabe, age 95, resident of Augusta, Ark., passed away, Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Woodruff County Health Center in McCrory. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014 followed by the Funeral at 2 p.m. all at the Church of God of Prophecy in Augusta. Bro. Tony Pasley will be the officiating minister and will be assisted by Bro. Walter Hicks. Interment will be in the Augusta Memorial Park with Thompson-Wilson Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements. Mrs. McCabe was born on Feb. 2, 1919 in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., the daughter of Daniel and Wealthy Caldonia (Fox) Shults. She attended Tennessee schools and was married on June 16, 1957 to Johnnie McCabe. Mystrey worked for Peebles Grocery in downtown Augusta for nearly 30 years. After putting her job aside to care for her ailing parents, she began to work for her son at the McCrory IGA. In retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting, gardening, fishing and cooking. Those who knew and loved her will always remember her gift for storytelling. Many hearts were warmed with her kind words and sweet singing. She was a lifelong member of the Church of God Of Prophecy. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Fowler Moore of Mena, Ark.; two sons, James W. Fowler and wife Kathryn of Augusta and Jerry Don McCabe of Higginson; one sister, Martha Laverne Henderson and husband Gene of Russellville; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
