Richard Arthur "Dickie" Snider, 87, of Beebe passed away on March 29, 2014. Dickie was born on June 4, 1926, to Mary and E.J. Snider in their home out on the hay prairie near Carlisle, Ark. He was raised in Carlisle where he graduated from high school in 1945. At a young age he joined his father in the farming operation and his first job was to move trucks from place to place. He said that his father had a strong hand and an even stronger work ethic. They began farming hay and were able to ship thousands of bales of hay around the country. Together they continued to buy land and clear it when rice became the crop of choice on the prairie. He enjoyed farming, but most of all he enjoyed his mechanical projects, building implements and modifying equipment to make farm work easier. He was a self-trained mechanical engineer. Dickie continued the farming operation until time for retirement then he and his wife spent the next 20 years living in their motor home and traveling throughout the United States. In addition to his parents, Dickie was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bud Young of Carlisle; a nephew, William A. Young. He is survived by his wife, Carroll E.
