Eunice K. Jones-Ashabranner of Searcy and Wabbaseka passed from earth to the fulfilled joys of living forever with her heavenly Lord on April 30, 2014 in Germantown, Tenn. where she was residing with family. Eunice was born May 30, 1924 to Robert and Hazel Kuhn at their home near Black Oak. She grew up in Caraway until 1939 when Robert moved his business and the family to Humphrey, Ark. After graduating from high school, she worked for her father and later met Oscar H. Jones, Jr. whom she married in 1942. Six years later, Eunice and Oscar moved to the Wabbaseka area. Dedicated to Bible truth and Christian principles, Eunice's life was characterized by her joy of service and hospitality for God, family, church and community. In these she employed her abilities and the use of her many gifts of gardening, flower arranging, cooking, sewing, music, art work and design and being a faithful member of the church choir. Eunice was known for leading Vacation Bible Schools—writing, staging and costuming the week's Bible Study Focus. She founded and was the Adult Leader of the Wabbaseka 4-H Club. Oscar died in 1970 and 10 years later Eunice married Roy Ashabranner. They continued living in Wabbaseka until they moved to Searcy, Ark. in 2000 where she continued her Christian service as an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her six children: one son, Oscar H. Jones III and five daughters: India and Clay Huddleston of St. Simons Island, Ga.; Jeanie and Dwight Ballard of Gulfport, Miss.; Donna and David Rains of Houston, Texas; Alice Belle and Ed Laurendine of Daphne, Ala.; Karen and Mark Loden of Germantown Tenn.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, May 8th at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart. Visitation will begin at 12 noon and the Service at 1:30 p.m. Graveside service will be 11 am. .Friday, May 9th at Nettleton Cemetery. Local visitation will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Gregg-Langford-Bookout Funeral Home, 300 W. Matthews Ave. in Jonesboro. The suggested opportunity for memorials are The Gideons International, the Memphis Union Mission and The Salvation Army. The funeral services were entrusted to Gregg-Langford-Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
