Billie Jean Westbrook Tanner, age 83, of Benton, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, May 6, 2014. She was born January 1, 1931 in Haskell, Arkansas. Mrs. Tanner was a homemaker and a member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church. She spent 30 years serving in the Saline Memorial Hospital Auxiliary including spending time as the treasurer. Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by her parents, L.A. "Bill" and Vida Westbrook and her husband, David W. Tanner. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Black and husband Eddie of Benton and a granddaughter, Katie Black Allen and husband Shawn of Grand Junction, Colorado. She was a wonderful and thoughtful mother and proud grandmother that brought joy to those around her. Billie always appreciated those that helped her through the day at Mt Carmel Community in Benton and Fox Ridge Senior living in Bryant. She left behind many caring friends and workers at each place. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 9 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10 at Ashby Funeral Home with internment at Mt. Harmony Cemetery. Bro. Carl Richey and Bro. Kim Hammer will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Saline memorial Health Foundation at #1 Medical Park Dr. in Benton, Ark. 72015.
