Dorothy Lee Pyle Benson, 83, of El Dorado, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at her residence. She was born August 15, 1930, to Lester L. Pyle, Sr. and Bessie Lee Cochran Pyle in Emerson, Ark. As a young girl Dorothy was a renowned dancer in south Arkansas and north Louisiana. She participated in many shows with her brother Buddy. Dorothy loved giving back to her community even as she raised a family. She participated in the March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, El Dorado Service League, and Cub Scouts. Later in life, while living in Little Rock, she volunteered at Arkansas Children's Hospital. Dorothy also loved football and animals. She bred and raised Boxers for many years. Dorothy often kept more of a litter than she sold. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she volunteered, and she was a homemaker and the former owner of Bouquets and Other Things. Preceding her in death are her parents; and son, Ralph Lee Benson. Survivors are her three sons, John S. Benson Jr. (Andrea), Stone S. Benson, William L. Benson all of El Dorado; one brother, Lester L. " Buddy" Pyle, Jr. (Jaunita) of Smackover; three grandchildren, John S. Benson III of Fayetteville, Ae=rk., Mary Benson Larson (Jason), William Garrett Benson both of El Dorado; two great-grandchildren, Eleanor K. Larson, Isaac S. Larson; and two nieces, Leslie Pyle Kennerly (Mike) of Lufkin, Texas and Laura Pyle Smith (Sid) of Hattiesburg, Miss. The family would like to extend our thanks to Dr. Sandesh Pokharel, Dr. Angela Norman, and Dr. Thomas Fletcher, and to their staff, and to her special caregivers, Clara Paige, Clara Smith, Michelle Edmonds, and Cleatrice "Sugar" Parker. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at Young's Funeral Directors. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel with Rev. Patrick Fleming officiating. A private family interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday under the direction of Young's. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O.
