Jean Mormon Shelton

Jean Mormon Shelton, 88, of Hamburg, died Friday, May 9, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Shelton was a native of Snyder and a resident of Hamburg since 1947. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Willie Van Shelton Sr. in 2005; a son, Willie Van (Bilbo) Shelton Jr., in 2006; her parents, J.W. (Wister) & Minnie Jones Mormon; three sisters, Grace Crosby Elton, Jessie Gober and Martha Wall; and a brother, John Mormon. She is survived by a son, John Richard Shelton and wife, Tammy; two daughters, Susan Diane Lawrence and Sarah Jean Shelton all of Hamburg; five grandchildren, Susanne Lawrence Keller and husband, Clint, Julie Lynn Lawrence, John Richard Shelton Jr., William Van Shelton and Stephen Peyton Shelton; and two great-grandchildren, James Alexander Rogers III and Sarah Elizabeth Brandon. Graveside funeral services and burial will be 2 p.m., Monday, May 12, 2014 in the Eden Cemetery with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-12 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
