Sam Jefferson Davis

SAM JEFFERSON DAVIS, age 84, of Jacksonville went to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 8, 2014. He was born Feb. 19, 1930 in Jonesboro, La. to the late Jesse and Viola Davis. He served in the United States Air Force during Korea and Vietnam. He was a devout man of God, a loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Davis; and one daughter, Dawn Miraglia. He is survived by his daughters, Amber Hughes, Dana Murdock; grandchildren, Tammy Hughes, Corey Hughes, Amanda McCoy, Katy McCoy, Nichole Grady, Noah Miraglia, and Samantha Steinbeck; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home with Steve Hess officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
