John Harlan Edmonson, 89, of Pine Bluff, died May 10, 2014. Born July 30, 1924, in Bauxite, he was the son of the late C.E. "Gene" Edmonson and Sollie Hickman Edmonson. Mr. Edmonson was a graduate of Little Rock Junior College and Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA) in Conway. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army, participating in the Battle of the Bulge under General Patton. In 1995, Mr. Edmonson retired from the Department of Correction. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the DANHO (Doers And Not Hearers Only) Sunday school class. He was a Mason; he loved golf and was an avid Razorback fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, James, and Elmo Edmonson; and by a granddaughter, Martha Lynne DeMaine. Mr. Edmonson is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Evelyne Clifford Edmonson; daughters, Sue DeMaine (Burney) and Melanie Edmonson; sister, Mattie "Sis" Cooper; three granddaughters, Mary Catherine DeMaine-Ward (Rekeydris), Elizabeth Anne DeMaine-Taylor (Brock), and Jennifer Lee DeMaine-Wise (Brad); great-granddaughters, Evelynne Lee Wise and Savannah Elizabeth Ward; and many other loving family members and friends. A celebration of his life was held at the Salem Methodist Campground with military honors.
